I began my piano studies at Manhattan School of Music at the age of three with my father, Professor Ubaldo Diaz-Acosta. There I began my studies in piano, viola, theory and sight-singing. I was also in the chorus and orchestra which was a joy to be apart of. My father is a concert pianist and professor and that meant I grew up hearing music night and day which I wouldn’t have wanted any other way. I grew up listening to the way he taught and I’ve learned so much from just watching him teach. I graduated from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts as a piano major and from Queens College - Aaron Copland Conservatory with a degree in Music.
It’s not just about teaching students to play the correct notes, dynamics and rhythms; it’s also about teaching them how to be musical and how to tell stories in their playing. One of my goals as a teacher is for my students to find happiness in piano. I want to share my love of music and the instrument.
