The Best Piano Series to Use With Your Students
Have you ever been to a music store or searched online for the best piano book to buy for you or your student? It can be overwhelming to know which books to get and I am here to help! There are so many piano methods and books out there. Here are a list of piano series that I highly recommend and use everyday for my students.
Number 1: The Piano Adventures by Nancy & Randall Faber
As I’ve mentioned in my other blog posts, The Piano Adventures series by Nancy & Randall Faber is my number one go-to. It has a great series for very young beginners, kids and adults. That being said, I use the book that best suits the student. If I see that my 5 year old student is a very quick learner and has good finger coordination, I might start that student with the 1st book of Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner. I want to use the book that moves at the best pace for each student. Not everyone learns the same way and it’s our jobs as teachers to find the shoe that fits... or the books that’s best suited for your student.
Number 2: Piano Literature
This series is a wonderful group of books. All the pieces are in their original form and are a compilation of songs of different composers from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary periods. I like to pair these books with The Piano Adventures series.
Number 3: Piano Repertoire by Keith Snell
This is another series I absolutely love. This series is very similar to the Piano Literature series from Faber with the difference that it has many more levels and has more variety. This series has many different products per level. Each level has: Sight Reading, Scale Skills, Etudes, Baroque & Classical, Romantic & 20th Century as well as Essential Piano Repertoire which includes pieces of the 17th, 18th and 19th century.
If you haven’t used these books yet, I highly recommend you check them out. They are really well written and have a great selection of pieces. I also like how clear the print is and how easy it is to read.
Thanks for passing by! I hope you found this post helpful. Leave a comment and let me know if you’ve used these books before and which other books you like to use.
Happy Teaching :)
