Teaching Piano Students When They Don’t Believe In Themselves
Learning music is such an incredible thing to learn. Not only is it learning a new language of notes and dynamics and feelings but it’s a way to express feelings through sound. But just like anything new, it can feel frustrating at times to learn something and feel like you’re not learning at the right speed or just plain hard on yourself.
Teaching the Groups of Two and Three Black Keys (The Fun Way)
One of my favorite ways to teach toddlers the groups of two and three black keys on the piano is with foam sheets. I take two different colored foam sheets and cut rectangular shapes that fit perfectly on the group of two and three black keys. I make seven identical cutouts for each group; a total of 14 cutouts. I like to use one color for the two black keys and another color foam sheet for the three black keys.
